Glowing burnouts - TCPD Update #11!


Hey everyone, there's a new build of TCPD available now!

This build includes updates to vehicle handling/feel, underglow customization, & more!

🔳 Latest Changes (10/25/23 build)

  • Vehicle/gameplay updates!
    • Vehicle physics & handling have been updated for better stability and easier control
    • New underglow customization in the garage!
    • Slightly reduced vehicle speed during boost
    • Updated boost camera & particle effects
    • Added ability to do burnouts!
    • Loops are now drivable (with new loop gap trick)!
    • Traffic collisions now bounce other vehicles back/are less disruptive
    • When landing while doing a character trick, vehicle slows down + sloppy as penalty
    • Kiss the rail trick is now less frequent/only happens for short grinds
  • LATC, now with mo betta hittables!
    • More hittables with more sound/particle effects and destruction!
    • Added small office area beside bridge.
    • Other small tweaks and fixes to various places in the map.
    • Bollards don't block you anymore + have effects and spring back up!
  • General fixes/updates
    • Pedestrians now jump out of the vehicle's way instead of towards it
    • Added settings reset for new builds to fix any outdated references
    • Updated tutorial text to be more succinct & contain better info
    • Performance should be slightly improved

🔳 Up next (late Q4 2023) & thoughts on the future

Who knows what I'll actually get done this next pass, but along with some leftover things from the previous update, I will be doing more level design and working towards some pretty big core gameplay changes.

It's possible this ends up being the last free alpha for TCPD. As I said in my last update, I'm thinking about going into an "Early Access" period for TCPD on itch (Steam will only get the full release once ready) in the coming months. I'll still have demos/playtests available from time to time, but regular alpha access will be restricted to paying users (likely $10 or so). All purchases will receive a Steam key when the game is ready. I will have to do a little bit of research to see how to set that up but either way as the game gets more content it feels ideal to reserve access for those interested in testing the early game (and hopefully providing feedback on their purchase)!
