TCPD Pre-Alpha Update #4!

🔳 Overview

At a high level, this update includes the following changes:

  • Updates to vehicle mass/physics in order to make the vehicle feel more stable & realistic
  • Changes to make grind attach & detach more stable
  • Changes to vehicle mechanics:
    • Jump now uses a force meter with the ability to hold & time your jump
    • Vehicle torque & force are lowered during drifting (slightly) & wheelying (heavily)
    • Boost no longer extends combos (only drifting/wheelying/grinding)
  • LATC is blockout complete!
    • Now with breakable trees!
  • New vehicle sounds & boost particles
  • You can now pickup D-R-I-V-E in LATC freeroam!
  • ...plus more improvements & bug fixes!

🔳 Full Patch Notes

General:
  • Update README
  • Camera freelook with controller right stick is more responsive/easier to use
    • Mouse freelook has been removed
Vehicle/Gameplay:
  • Boost no longer extends combos
  • Jump mechanic updated to a "charge" system
    • Quick tap the jump button to small jump
    • Hold the jump button and fill jump force bar for a big jump
  • Remove vehicle chassis shake while in the air
  • Don't allow wheelie during drifts
  • Update vehicle weight (and all forces/torques/etc.) to be more realistic
  • Clean up grind code & reset vehicle location on grind to help fix auto-detach bug
  • Update jump impulse to be unaffected by mass (stabilize jump force)
  • Slow vehicle force and turning torque when drifting (slightly) and wheelying (heavily)
  • Temporarily removed all body roll animations
  • Update vehicle audio to use marketplace Japanese i6 engine audio
  • Tiretracks are now visible in shadows
  • Tiretracks show on all 4 tires when drifting
  • Add local exhaust flame particles in place of boost clouds
  • Hang front wheels when wheelying
  • Fix sedan wheel locations
  • Update vehicle reset to use a rolling torque and reset the vehicle in place
  • Add stability forces when the vehicle isn't fully grounded to help smooth landings
  • Update spring/damping values
  • Update forces when coming off of grind rails for better landings/transfers
UI/UX:
  • Add a 'Pre-Alpha' watermark
  • Add a 'Jump Force' bar under boost
  • Update size of logos & media on various screens
Maps:
  • LATC (Preview) is blockout complete!
    • Reworked level boundaries on the "industrial" side of map
      • Highways now curve through level
    • Downsized auto dealership building area
    • Rework road system around big parking garage
    • New office & park areas behind baseball stadium
    • Modify weight of all static props/vehicles to be slightly more realistic
    • Add various props around map
    • Add breakable yellow trees scattered around the map
    • Update stadium area concessions with food trucks and props
    • Parking garages have been updated to be accessible from all floors
    • Add grind splines to all missing road fences
    • Make sure traffic lights don't collide with player if hidden
    • Converted a lot of box geometry to static meshes for optimization purposes
    • Fix hidden decals in campus area
    • Add 'warehouse' and back road shortcut between the highway & big parking garage
